[Software Description] This software will update the TS7000 series TeraStations’ firmware to version 2.66. If your unit’s firmware is already version 2.66 or later, you don’t need this update. [How to Verify the Firmware Version] Select your TeraStation from NAS Navigator2. The firmware version is displayed on the bottom right corner of the window. [Updating Firmware] • Please consult technical support or your local customer service representative if the firmware update causes unexpected problems. • Do not turn off the TeraStation until the firmware update is completed and the “finished” message is displayed. • USB drives may not be mounted automatically after updating the firmware. To mount them, unplug and then reconnect them. [Notes] • If replication runs while the TeraStation has too many files such as 600 GB in total, the I33 message may be displayed. In such a case, try resyncing. • If replication runs while the TeraStation has too many files, the I33 message may be displayed. In such a case, try resyncing. • Updating to this firmware version will overwrite your current guest account settings. The guest account will automatically be enabled. Reconfigure the guest account settings after the firmware update is finished. • When you open Settings after updating to this firmware version, information on the page such as the hostname may not be displayed properly. In such a case, clear the web browser cache and try again. [How to Update the Firmware] 1. Connect the TeraStation and a computer to run the updater on the same network subnet. The subnet masks should be the same and the first three numbers of the IP addresses should be the same. The last number of the IP addresses should be different. For example, if the IP address and subnet mask of the computer are “192.168.0.10/255.255.255.0” and the IP address and subnet mask of the TeraStation are “192.168.1.150/255.255.255.0”, then the updater will not work properly. In such a case, reconfigure the TeraStation’s IP address and subnet mask to “192.168.0.150/255.255.255.0”. Then, they will be on the same subnet and the updater will work properly. 2. Exit all applications. Also, stop or exit any firewall software. 3. Extract the downloaded file and run “TSUpdater.exe”. When a TeraStation is detected, an update window will open. 4. If multiple TeraStations are connected to the network, select which TeraStation to update. 5. Click ‘Update’ and enter the TeraStation’s admin password. 6. Click ‘OK’. 7. It will take several minutes for the firmware to update. During the update process, the info LED will blink. Don’t disconnect or power down the TeraStation until the update is finished. 8. When the update is finished, a message will be displayed. [Important Notice to Users Running Firmware Version Between 1.01 and 1.04] If you are updating to firmware version 2.00 and later, the update will change the layout and functionality of Settings. Refer to the manual for more information on new options: http://buffalo.jp/support_s/guide2/manual/ts/7000/en/pc_index.html [Release Notes] Version 2.66 [2020-02-06] Added and Modified Features [Drives] • Modified so that when a drive with S.M.A.R.T. disabled is inserted, S.M.A.R.T. will be automatically enabled. Also, static DNS server settings were lost if firmware was upgraded from 1.04-0.71 to 2.00-0.36. If a static DNS server was set with firmware 1.04-0.71, it was not retained when upgraded to 2.00-0.36. This might break Active Directory integration. Firmware 2.01 fixes this. The workaround for a user with 2.00-0.36 was to redo DNS settings and rejoin the AD domain. • Fixed a bug where a static IP address was not inherited when updating the firmware from version 1.04 to 2.01 so the TeraStation was kicked from the AD domain. • Fixed a bug where local users couldn’t be converted to external users when delegating authority to an SMB server. [iSCSI] • Modified so that VAAI (compatible with VMware vSphere 5.0 or later) is now available. • Arrays and drives can now be used as backstores (they need not be enabled for LVM first). • Modified so that file I/O and block I/O can now be selected from “Backstore” in Settings. File I/O volumes access the iSCSI LUN as a file. Using file I/O enables iSCSI I/O operations to use write-back caching to the NAS buffer cache (server-side write caching) via the next option in this list (if desired), which increases speed. Block I/O accesses the LUN as a block device. The NAS buffer cache cannot be used by a LUN being accessed via block I/O. The following options are now available: ◦ “File I/O Write Sync” when the LVM volume is working in file I/O mode ◦ “Thin Provisioning” when the LVM volume is working in file I/O mode [UPS Sync] • Now compatible with Eaton PW5115 UPS devices. • Modified to support concurrently monitored dual UPS devices. • Modified to map PSU to UPS (reporting loss of AC power at NAS to UPS subsystem has been promoted to a UPS low battery event, increasing UPS system robustness). • Added iSCSI connection modifier to UPS shutdown; can modify UPS-based shutdown to only shut down once iSCSI connections drop to 0.
