[Software Description] This software will update the LS700 series LinkStations’ firmware to version 1.40. If your unit’s firmware is already version 1.40 or later, you don’t need this update. [How to Verify the Firmware Version] Select your LinkStation from NAS Navigator2. The firmware version is displayed on the bottom right corner of the window. [Updating Firmware] • Do not turn off the LinkStation until the firmware update is completed and the “Finished” message appears. • Disable any antivirus software on the computer that will run the updater before updating the firmware. • It is recommended to connect to the computer via a wired connection for updating the firmware. [Notes] • Make sure the LinkStation’s MTU size is set to a value smaller than that of the hub or router. Larger MTU sizes may not allow data to be transferred to the LinkStation properly. • This firmware will send your usage information to Buffalo automatically. Usage information may include your LinkStation series name and firmware version, some settings (such as the number of shared folders), some drive information (such as S.M.A.R.T.), and usage environment (such as the number of client PCs). None of the collected information will contain your personal data such as usernames and passwords. Buffalo will only use the collected information to improve future firmware updates and no other purposes. To disable this function, open Settings after updating the firmware to this version, then navigate to ‘Management’ > ‘Update’ > ‘Edit’ and disable “Update Notification”. For more detailed information, refer to the user manual of your LinkStation model. • If you are using firmware version 1.20 or earlier, data may be erased from OneDrive when renaming or moving folders on OneDrive and OneDrive Sync is enabled on the TeraStation with bidirectional sync mode and either a 1, 5, or 10 minute-sync period configured. Please update the firmware to the latest version. • If OneDrive Sync is enabled on a LinkStation that is in bidirectional sync mode, either of the following operations may cause a subfolder and the files within to be deleted during sync: 1) A subfolder is deleted from the LinkStation’s shared folder at the same time a new file is created in or moved into the same subfolder in the OneDrive folder. 2) A subfolder is deleted from the OneDrive folder at the same time a new file is created in or moved into the same subfolder in the LinkStation’s shared folder. In such a case, recover the deleted files from the OneDrive recycle bin before the retention period expires. [How to Update the Firmware] 1. Connect the LinkStation and a computer to run the updater on the same network subnet. The subnet masks should be the same and the first three numbers of the IP addresses should be the same. The last number of the IP addresses should be different. For example, if the IP address and subnet mask of the computer are “192.168.0.10/255.255.255.0” and the IP address and subnet mask of the LinkStation are “192.168.1.150/255.255.255.0”, then the updater will not work properly. In such a case, reconfigure the LinkStation’s IP address and subnet mask to “192.168.0.150/255.255.255.0”. Then, the devices will be on the same subnet and the updater will work properly. 2. Exit all applications. Also, stop or exit any firewall software. 3. Extract the downloaded file and run “LSUpdater.exe”. When a LinkStation is detected, an update window will open. 4. If multiple LinkStations are connected to the network, select which LinkStation to update. 5. Click ‘Update’ and enter the LinkStation’s admin password. 6. Click ‘OK’. 7. It will take several minutes for the firmware to update. During the update process, the power LED will glow amber. Don’t disconnect or power down the LinkStation until the update is finished. 8. When the update is finished, a message will be displayed. Version 1.30 [2023-02-21] Bug Fixes [Microsoft OneDrive Sync] • Fixed a bug where data may be erased from OneDrive when renaming or moving folders on OneDrive. The 5- and 10-minute sync period selections are available again.
